The Minnesota Orch. and Music Director Osmo Vänskä will perform in Berlin, London and Vienna as part of a two-week, eight-city tour of Europe next February and March. The tour—the third the Orchestra has embarked upon since Mr. Vänskä became music director in 2003—also includes performances in Cologne, Düsseldorf, Stuttgart, Frankfurt and Luxembourg. Fully funded by a private donor, the four-country tour will showcase the Orchestra in repertoire by John Adams, Beethoven, Nielsen and Sibelius, and will feature violinist Joshua Bell in violin concertos by Barber and Bruch (the Concerto #1).
“It is a priority for us to share the Minnesota Orchestra and Music Director Osmo Vänskä on these world stages,” says the Orchestra’s President and CEO Michael Henson. “Orchestras raise international profiles through broadcasting, recording and international touring. The Minnesota Orchestra has an amazing history on these fronts, and we are dedicated to ongoing, significant activity in all of these areas to this day. We are proud to again serve as ambassadors for the state of Minnesota throughout Europe.”
